Khatu Shyam: An extraordinary and emotionally moving scene unfolded at Khatu Dham in Rajasthan when a young man, enveloped in iron chains, reached Baba Shyam's court. He was no ordinary devotee, but a pilgrim whose entire journey became a unique example of social message and devotion.
Keshav Kumar Saxena, a 21-year-old from Uttarakhand, completed the 18-kilometer pilgrimage to Khatushyamji barefoot, bound by 12 iron chains weighing 10 kg. This 27-hour penance without food and water was not just a personal devotion, but emerged as a nationwide plea – 'A complete ban on non-vegetarian food in India.'
A Unique Form of Devotion: A Body Wrapped in Chains
The Khatu Shyam temple complex in Sikar district, Rajasthan, was filled with devotion when a young man, wrapped in heavy iron chains, arrived at Baba Shyam's court. The devotees were initially surprised, but when they learned about his resolve and purpose, every eye welled up with tears. The young man's name was Keshav Kumar Saxena, just 21 years old.
An Unwavering Devotee of Baba Shyam for 12 Years
Keshav, a resident of Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, has been visiting Khatu Shyamji every year for the past 12 years. But this time, the journey was not just a pilgrimage; it became a social voice, an emotional journey, and a spiritual movement. He bound himself in 12 iron chains weighing 10 kg and completed the 18 km pilgrimage from Reengus to Khatu without food or drink, in a continuous 27 hours.
Mind Became Restless Before Kanhaiya Mittal's Gathering
Keshav says that he was recently going to Haldwani to attend a program by Bhajan singer Kanhaiya Mittal. On the way, he saw people openly cutting and eating meat in many places. Seeing this scene, his mind became very disturbed, and he immediately vowed to go to Baba Shyam's court and demand a complete ban on non-vegetarian food in the country.
Received Support from Baba Shyam in Childhood
Becoming emotional, Keshav says that when he was 9 years old, his parents remarried separately and left him helpless. In that dark time, he found shelter in the court of Khatu Shyamji. The first time he reached Baba's door, he felt like he had received a new life. Since then, he became a devout follower of Baba.
Not Just a Resolution, But a Message for Society
Keshav's effort is not just the faith of a devotee, but a warning to society. He says that non-vegetarianism is not just violence, but against humanity. He demanded from Baba Shyam that a strict ban should be imposed on non-vegetarian food in a spiritual country like India, and the coming generations should get an opportunity to live a pure and sensitive life.
A Confluence of Devotion and Sacrifice
In this journey of resolve, Keshav not only endured physical pain but also remained mentally b. Even while being hungry and thirsty, he did not waver for a moment. As soon as he reached the Khatu Shyam temple, he bowed down at Baba's feet and said only one sentence – 'Baba, free India from non-vegetarian food.'
Went Viral on Social Media
Keshav's unique journey has now become a topic of discussion on social media. People are praising his spirit, and many organizations are supporting his demand. Some religious institutions have even talked about appealing to the government to seriously consider such petitions.
There is Power in Faith, a Spark of Change
Keshav Saxena's effort proves that when a true devotee thinks about something for the society, his faith is not limited to worship, but it becomes a spark of change. This chained pilgrimage of his will not only become a symbol of religious faith in the coming times, but it will also give the message that if there is faith in the heart, nothing is impossible.
