A 5-foot-long black cobra was found in the washroom of a resident doctor's room at MBS Hospital Hostel in Kota. A snake catcher safely removed the snake, causing panic in the hostel.
Kota: Panic spread through the MBS Hospital Hostel in Kota, Rajasthan, on Sunday night when a 5-foot-long black cobra was discovered in the commode of a resident doctor's room washroom. The presence of the snake caused all the hostel students to flee in fear, leading to chaos. Upon receiving information, a snake catcher arrived at the scene and safely captured and removed the snake.
Stampede in the Hostel
MBBS students and resident doctors at the hostel located on the MBS and JLN Hospital campus in Nayapura, Kota, were shocked by this incident. During the event, hostel students rushed out of their rooms, screaming. The students and their safety were put at risk, standing on the brink of danger from the snake.
Snake catcher Govind Sharma stated that the black cobra was approximately 5 feet long and its bite could be fatal. He captured the snake with safety precautions and released it in a safe location.
Cobra in Resident Doctor's Room
Govind Sharma informed that the snake was found in the lat-bath of the room occupied by MBBS resident doctor Dr. Puneet Sharma. The snake, caught in room number 24, disrupted the sleep of the students and the doctor. Govind mentioned that snake catchers have been called to the hostel multiple times before to catch snakes. This particular snake was very thick and aggressive. It attempted to attack several times during the capture but was safely apprehended.
Eyewitnesses reported that the sudden appearance of the snake caused a stir in the hostel. Students' eyes widened in shock, and they ran out of their rooms in fear.
Serious Deficiencies in Hostel Security
MBBS students pointed out that due to the monsoon, the jungle and bushes have grown extensively within the hostel premises. In several places, safety tanks are damaged, and their lids are broken. Consequently, snakes and other venomous creatures easily enter the hostel. The students have appealed to the administration to clear the bushes and grass around the hostel and repair the safety tanks.
The students stated that creatures like snakes, lizards, and rats are constantly seen in the hostel, affecting their safety and studies. They urged the administration to take this problem seriously and implement appropriate measures.
Snake Catcher and Administration Enhance Hostel Security
Following the incident, the students and hostel management commended the actions of snake catcher Govind Sharma. He described the capture as challenging due to the snake's highly agitated and aggressive nature. The administration has been warned to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of all resident doctors and students in the hostel.
The students emphasized that such incidents highlight the critical need for regular inspections and robust security arrangements within the hostel complex. The administration must promptly take preventive measures to avoid any loss of life or property in the future.
