Rahul Gandhi questioned the Modi government sharply regarding Operation Sindoor. He asked whether Pakistan was informed before the attack, and how many IAF aircraft were lost. The PIB has termed this misleading.
New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has once again targeted the Modi government. This time, his focus is on Operation Sindoor. Rahul Gandhi questioned the number of Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft lost during the operation.
Rahul Gandhi shared a video on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), featuring a statement by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Based on this video, Rahul Gandhi leveled serious allegations against the central government.
Rahul Gandhi's Claim: Why was Pakistan informed beforehand?
Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Indian government informed Pakistan about the impending Operation Sindoor. He termed this action a "crime" and questioned who ordered it. He also asked about the consequences of this action and the losses incurred by the Indian Air Force.
Rahul stated, "The External Affairs Minister publicly admitted that the Indian government informed Pakistan before the operation. This is a grave mistake. Who is responsible for this decision?"
What does Jaishankar's video show?
The video shared by Rahul Gandhi shows External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stating that India informed Pakistan at the outset of the operation that the attack targeted terrorist bases, not the Pakistani military. Therefore, the Pakistani military should not interfere.
Jaishankar says, "We sent a message to Pakistan that we were targeting terrorist bases, not the military. They had the option of not interfering and staying away, but they ignored it."
PIB Fact Check Findings:
Following Rahul Gandhi's questioning, the government's PIB Fact Check clarified the matter. The PIB stated on its official X account that the External Affairs Minister's statement is being misrepresented.
The PIB said, "The video viral on social media makes the misleading claim that India informed Pakistan before Operation Sindoor. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made no such statement. This is completely false and misleading."
