Bangladeshi politics is once again in turmoil. Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmed, General Secretary of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, has demanded the public execution of the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, accusing her of orchestrating a massacre to remain in power.
Bangladesh Political Crisis: Politics in Bangladesh are once again on the boil. Ahead of the upcoming elections, the radical organization Khelafat Majlis has issued a highly controversial statement regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Maulana Jalaluddin Ahmed, General Secretary of Khelafat Majlis, has accused Prime Minister Hasina of orchestrating a massacre to remain in power and has demanded her public execution. During a rally in Dhaka, Jalaluddin made inflammatory statements, declaring that the Awami League would no longer be allowed to establish roots in Bangladesh.
Demand for Public Execution of Sheikh Hasina
On July 18, 2025, a protest was organized by the Dhaka South unit of Khelafat Majlis at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka after Friday prayers. During this protest, Jalaluddin bly attacked the Sheikh Hasina government, stating that the cruelty of the Hasina government has not spared even children. Now the public wants decisive action. The days of the Awami League are numbered.
He stated that his party has been active in every democratic movement for the past 16 years, and now it is time to overthrow this alleged 'dictatorial regime.' Jalaluddin also claimed that all opposition forces, including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, are now united in the fight against the Sheikh Hasina government.
Awami League Will Not Be Spared in Gopalganj or Any Other Area
During the rally, Maulana Jalaluddin said that the Awami League will not be allowed to establish roots in Gopalganj or any part of the country. He explicitly warned that if any government or administration official tries to stop their campaign, they will not be spared either. Such inflammatory and provocative statements have further heated up the already sensitive political situation in Bangladesh.
In his statement, Jalaluddin not only criticized the government but also bly opposed the proposed United Nations (UN) office in Bangladesh. He said, any step against the sovereignty of Bangladesh will not be tolerated. If necessary, we will take to the streets and protest against the United Nations office.
He termed foreign interference through the UN Office a 'conspiracy' in Bangladeshi politics and said that foreign powers are trying to weaken Bangladesh's sovereignty.
Opposition Parties Also Warned
The General Secretary of Khelafat Majlis also warned opposition parties BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami not to weaken the current movement with internal strife and personal accusations. He said, if the opposition does not unite, only fascist forces will get a chance to reorganize. Now is the time for everyone to unite and raise their voice against the oppression of the Awami League.
Bangladeshi security agencies already believed that some influential people and organizations are active in promoting extremism in the country. After this statement by Maulana Jalaluddin, the debate has once again intensified whether such organizations are receiving indirect support from Muhammad Yunus or powerful people like him.
In recent years, Yunus's name has caused political turmoil in Bangladesh several times, although he has denied any such role. However, questions continue to be raised about his role behind the increasing activities of opposition parties and radical organizations.
Political Atmosphere Tense in Bangladesh
Elections are approaching in Bangladesh, and that is why opposition parties and radical organizations are trying to put pressure on the Sheikh Hasina government. On one hand, the government is claiming to put the country on the path of economic stability and development, while on the other hand, the opposition and radical organizations are calling the government dictatorial and anti-democratic.
