Maratha Reservation Protest Concludes as Government Agrees to Kunbi Caste Certificates

The Maratha reservation protest has ended. Manoj Jarange broke his fast after the government agreed to the demand for Kunbi Caste Certificates. CM Fadnavis described this as a new beginning for the Maratha society.

Manoj Jarange: Manoj Jarange Patil, who had been on a hunger strike for 5 days demanding Maratha reservation, finally ended his fast on Tuesday. He took this decision after the Maharashtra government accepted his major demands. Following this decision, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a significant announcement on behalf of the government, stating that a solution beneficial to the Maratha community has been found.

5-Day Fast Ends Following Government's Decision, Protest Concludes

On August 29, Manoj Jarange Patil began his hunger strike at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai, demanding reservation for the Maratha community. This fast, which continued for 5 consecutive days, caused significant stir in the state's politics and society. The Maratha community had been demanding reservation for a long time.

The protest concluded on Tuesday when the government agreed to his key demands, prompting him to announce the end of his fast. Following this decision, there was an atmosphere of joy among the protestors and the Maratha community.

Government Accepts Key Demands

Manoj Jarange Patil's primary demand was for the Maratha community to receive reservation benefits under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. To facilitate this, the government has decided to issue Kunbi caste certificates to eligible Marathas.

The Kunbi caste is included in the OBC category. Therefore, Marathas who receive this certificate will be able to avail the reservation benefits in education and employment under the OBC quota. This decision is expected to bring about a significant change for the Maratha community.

Chief Minister Fadnavis's Statement

Addressing the media on the conclusion of the Maratha reservation protest, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the government has always been committed to the welfare of the Maratha society.

Fadnavis further added, "Our government has found a solution that serves the interests of the Maratha community. This decision will foster social harmony and mark a new beginning for the Maratha society."

Wave of Happiness in the Maratha Community

The government's decision has generated an atmosphere of enthusiasm within the Maratha community. Those involved in the protest and representatives from rural areas consider this a major victory for the Maratha society. Celebratory events have been organized in several places to welcome this decision.

However, some organizations are still closely observing the government's subsequent actions. They emphasize the importance of ensuring that all eligible Marathas receive their Kunbi Caste Certificates in a timely manner to access the reservation benefits.

Long-Standing Demand for Reservation

The demand for Maratha reservation is not new. For many years, the Maratha community has been seeking reservation from the state government. Protests have occurred from time to time, but a concrete solution remained elusive. With the government's latest decision, it appears that the Maratha society may finally achieve their long-standing demands.
