Vijay met with the families of the Karur stampede victims at a private hotel in Chennai. He personally offered condolences and understood the needs of the victims. TVK had previously distributed 20 lakh rupees in relief aid.
Chennai: Actor-turned-politician and Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief, Vijay, met with the families of those who died in the Karur stampede. The meeting was held at a private hotel, attended by 37 families and over 200 people. Vijay personally offered condolences to each family and shared in their grief.
Background of the Stampede
A stampede occurred at a TVK rally in Karur on September 27, resulting in 41 deaths and over 50 injuries. The incident caused widespread sympathy and concern across Tamil Nadu. Following this, TVK had provided 20 lakh rupees in relief to the affected families before Diwali.
Why the Meeting at a Private Hotel?

Over 200 people arrived at a private hotel in Chennai to meet Vijay. The meeting took place in a closed room, with entry permitted only to TVK representatives. Families appreciated this arrangement, as it allowed them to meet the leader in a private and peaceful environment.
However, many questioned why Vijay did not go directly to Karur. Party sources explained that Vijay had initially planned to visit Karur, but due to logistics and security reasons, the meeting had to be held in Chennai.
Interaction with Victims
Vijay personally spoke with each family and offered them condolences. This included those who were injured in the stampede. He stated that the party stands with the victims in this difficult time and is ready to provide any kind of assistance. During the meeting, Vijay sought to understand the needs of the victims and considered future plans for them.
TVK's Relief Aid
TVK had already transferred 20 lakh rupees in relief funds to the families of the Karur stampede victims. According to party sources, this amount was distributed before Diwali to help families cover their expenses and needs.
