The havoc of rain continues unabated in North India. From Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab to Kashmir, a scene of deluge is being witnessed, and the lives of common people are going through a difficult phase.
Weather Update: The monsoon has wreaked havoc across the country. Continuous rain and flood situations have arisen in many states including Delhi, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in these states. Life is disrupted due to floods and heavy rains in various parts of the country, and relief and rescue operations are underway rapidly.
Weather Situation in Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of moderate to heavy rainfall in Delhi-NCR on September 6. The risk of flooding has increased in low-lying areas of the city such as ITO, Laxmi Nagar, and Geeta Colony. The administration has set up relief camps to move affected people to safer locations. In Uttar Pradesh, the weather is expected to remain stable in most areas on September 6. However, light to moderate rain is expected in districts bordering Delhi. An alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 10 and 11.
Flood-affected districts include Agra, Aligarh, Barabanki, Basti, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kannauj, Mathura, Pilibhit, Saharanpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Sitapur. The administration is relocating people in these areas to safer places.
Extremely Heavy Rainfall in Bihar, Rajasthan, and Gujarat
The possibility of rain in Bihar on September 6 is low. Only light rain may occur in the northern districts. The Meteorological Department has stated that the monsoon's effect has weakened in the state. However, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are warned for many districts between September 11 and 18. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat during September 6-7.
- Gujarat: Warning of heavy rainfall (≥30 cm) in Saurashtra and Kutch regions.
- Rajasthan: Extremely heavy rainfall is estimated in East Rajasthan on September 6 and in South-West Rajasthan on September 7.
- Punjab: Some relief from rain may be seen on September 6, but rescue operations are ongoing due to floods. So far, 43 people have died in the floods.
- Uttarakhand: Possibility of heavy rainfall on September 6 and 7.
- Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rainfall is estimated in various regions on September 8 and 9.

- Assam and Meghalaya: Warning of heavy rainfall on September 6-7 and 10-11.
- Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura: Heavy rainfall on September 6-7.

In flood-affected areas across the country, administration and NDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. Vigilance has been increased in rivers, streams, and submerged areas.
